Well, it's not as though you've not had an opportunity to experience a MEGADETH performance on DVD, but I'll be damned if "That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires" isn't one magical evening. We're talking a staggering 25,000 fans packed into Obras Sanitarias Stadium in 2005, singing along not only with lyrics, but also the guitar parts in every single song! This combination of adoring crowd and blazing band performance makes the DVD a must-own for MEGADETH fans, even if the "extras" are severely limited.

Speaking about the audience members for just a moment, you've really got to see it to believe it. These are fans that support metal, not just pay it lip service and reminisce about days of old. Americans metal fans could learn a thing or two from the Argentines. Several brief clips of Dave Mustaine and Glen Drover (EIDOLON) sitting in front of the hotel playing acoustic versions of MEGADETH songs, with vocals supplied by an adoring crowd, is a sight to behold. A bonus segment featuring this mini-performance would have been very appealing. Instead, the only bonus is an alternate mix of "Symphony of Destruction". Aside from the acoustic pieces interspersed throughout, brief bits of Dave and Glen discussing the rabidity of the Argentine fans while driving to the stadium is included at the beginning. Fortunately, the live set alone is worth the price of the DVD.

Though folks may complain about the absence of songs like "Mechanix", this is a pretty comprehensive MEGADETH set and includes several tracks from "The System Has Failed". The biggies are all here: "Symphony of Destruction", "Holy Wars", "Peace Sells", etc. The band, featuring the Drover brothers (Glen and drummer Shawn) and bassist James MacDonough is as tight and polished, as one would expect from a Mustaine-led effort. Mustaine's substitution of "Argentina" during "Coming Home" is especially touching and the ultimate tribute to the sea of smiling faces hanging on every word falling from the thrash legend's lips.

The show is brilliant by anyone's standards, and that includes the sight and sound aspects. The beauty of "That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires" is that the DVD captures a special evening when band and crowd are one. It is inspiring, to say the least.
